When Facebook released Quest 2 in October 2020, its promise of better visuals and improved performance was fulfilled.
Then they announced this new virtual reality headset in two versions, 64GB and 256GB.
So, which is right for you?
UPDATE: Is 64GB Oculus Quest 2 Still Available? Great News Ahead!
The 64 GB Quest 2 was first released with its 256 GB version.
French online retailer LDLC was among the first to publish pictures that revealed the new standard 128GB version of Quest 2.
The 64 GB version is selling no more.
The good news is that the 128GB model has replaced it (at the same cost).

Get The Quest 2 With Double Storage
This new 128GB headset will be sold from August 24, 2021, with a new stock-keeping unit (SKU) that gives you a bigger reason for installing Saber and other games – 128GB of memory with a price adjustment.
This makes it the most affordable Quest 2 so far.
How much extra storage do you really need?
The 128 GB Quest 2 comes with its own operating system that uses up 11.3GB.
Preinstalled software and demos use up some space, but they can always be uninstalled.
You effectively have 116GB left for games and other virtual content.
The 256GB Quest 2 leaves you a mammoth 245GB, which is more than enough to discover and try out new games.
How many games can you upload to your 128 GB Oculus Quest 2?
It depends more on the titles, but the average game size that’s released is around 800MB.
This means that you can easily install 80 games and then upload more levels whenever they are released!
This is adequate for most people. You can always delete or uninstall games when you’re running out of space for new games.

Our Verdict
The 128GB Quest 2 scores over the 256GB simply because of the added memory and affordability.
It’s an affordable version we recommend, as you’ll like the idea of going future-proof with enough space for custom songs and more games.
The 256GB version with its $399 price is running out of support unless you can team up with friends.
Oculus Quest 2 is now available at the Oculus store starting at $299.
